St. Patrick's Day - Shamrock Sprinkles
St. Patrick's Day is around the corner and my kids are so excited for the leprechaun to return. He usually turns our almond milk green, leaves green pee in the toliet (ewww!) and leaves some kind of chocolate treat. We do what we can to capture him, but each year he is able to escape.
This year, I think I know how to seal the deal! Golden shamrock sprinkles. Yup! And you can make them too. Use them for your leprechaun trap, add them to super cute decorated cookies or maybe add a few to top a special cupcake dessert.
What do you need for the sprinkles?
* Royal icing - I have my favorite recipe right over here
* Shamrock template - I have a free printable here too!
* Parchment paper
Sprinkles are super easy! You just place a sheet of parchment paper on top of your template. Fill in the shapes with your royal icing and allow to dry overnight. I used white royal icing for these because I wanted to paint them gold. You can start with a golden yellow shade or maybe stick with a traditional green.
Once the shamrocks have had a chance to dry you can paint them with edible paint! Look how sparkly and fun they are with a bit of golden sheen.
I like to use The Sugar Art's products. They are all edible (yes, there are some items out there sold to be used that are not actually edible. Don't get me started..)
A little bit of clear alcohol and dust later, you have golden magic! These sugar sprinkles can last for quite a long time if you don't use them immediately. I store mine in art tight plastic containers.
They are perfect additions to cookies - just simply add a dab of royal icing and place where you desire on the cookie.
And well, we will be using them to create a super fun cookie & sprinkle trap for that naughty leprechaun.. Maybe we will catch him this year!
