St. Patrick's Day - Shamrock Sprinkles
St. Patrick's Day is around the corner and my kids are so excited for the leprechaun to return. He usually turns our almond milk green, leaves green pee in the toliet (ewww!) and leaves some kind of chocolate treat. We do what we can to capture him, but each year he is able to escape.
This year, I think I know how to seal the deal! Golden shamrock sprinkles. Yup! And you can make them too. Use them for your leprechaun trap, add them to super cute decorated cookies or maybe add a few to top a special cupcake dessert.
What do you need for the sprinkles?
* Royal icing - I have my favorite recipe right over here
* Shamrock template - I have a free printable here too!
* Parchment paper
Sprinkles are super easy! You just place a sheet of parchment paper on top of your template. Fill in the shapes with your royal icing and allow to dry overnight. I used white royal icing for these because I wanted to paint them gold. You can start with a golden yellow shade or maybe stick with a traditional green.
I like to use The Sugar Art's products. They are all edible (yes, there are some items out there sold to be used that are not actually edible. Don't get me started..)
A little bit of clear alcohol and dust later, you have golden magic! These sugar sprinkles can last for quite a long time if you don't use them immediately. I store mine in art tight plastic containers.
They are perfect additions to cookies - just simply add a dab of royal icing and place where you desire on the cookie.
And well, we will be using them to create a super fun cookie & sprinkle trap for that naughty leprechaun.. Maybe we will catch him this year!
Baby, Yoda One For Me - Printable
Oh my goodness, it's literally been years since I've blogged. Time has flown, but my love for cookies and paper has not. I'm currently working as a baker at River Maiden in Vancouver, Washington. and doing custom cookie orders on the side. This Valentine's Day, at River Maiden we are planning on offering dozens and dozens of these super sweet "baby Yoda", aka Grogu, cookies. We do love our Star Wars all year long.
And every adorable cookie needs an equally cute cookie bag topper, right? I've created this sweet one to go on top of your Yoda cookies. There are 6 toppers on each page; just print, cut, fold and staple on to your bag. Your Valentine is set! You can download the free PDF printable right here. I recommend heavy cardstock, but printer paper will work just fine.
These are my Baby Yoda cookies. Isn't he just the sweetest Valentine? I bought my cookie cutter on Etsy from Custom Cutters. The shipping did take a bit of time, so be sure to buy quick if you want these for February.
This is the same Grogu I used at Christmas time. As I said, we love Star Wars all year long! My son was suggesting it would be cute to make him a football fan too with a little jersey on and holding a football.
To make cookie decorating a little bit easier and faster, I used a heart transfer template. Have you used one? You simply print out the design and place behind a piece of parchment paper. It is transparent enough that you can see the outline. Then using a thick flood consistency, ice the heart.
You can quickly make a whole bunch to use later on the cookie, or even as giant sprinkles! I let mine set overnight to completely dry. Simply add a dot of fresh icing behind the heart and place on the cookie when you are ready. Want to try your hand at it? I have a free printable of the hearts right here.
I used an edible red pen to create the cute conversation heart messages.
How easy and fun are these yummy Baby Yoda Valentine cookies? You will have your Star Wars Valentine in heaven!
Don't want to make the cookies? Head over to River Maiden in February to buy them. Simply download & print the topper for a fun gift.
Are you looking for a traditional Valentine to print? Head over to Desert Chica for an adorable Yoda & Mando printable!
